Founder

ARENOMICS Institute was initiated in 2026 by Steven Alber, originator of The Synthetic Economy independent research programme and founder of the broader ARENOMICS ecosystem. He is an independent strategist in technology and the agentic economy, working internationally.

The idea grew out of practical work with powerful AI and agent systems: building, delegating to and correcting systems that could plan and act across many steps. That work exposed a shift in where the difficulty lies. The problem is no longer only giving a system a good instruction; the persistent problem is who gives the system the right to act, within which limits, on what evidence, under whose accountability, and how that right is suspended or withdrawn. The Synthetic Economy research programme created the theoretical territory; the Institute arose from the need to turn part of it into something that can be taught, tested and applied.

For the closed Design Pilot in preparation, the founder acts as Programme Lead. This is a pilot-only role; it is not a faculty, academic or permanent institutional appointment, and no faculty, assessors, fellows or partners have been appointed.
